Longest serving volunteer at WINS - 9 years

As a registered nurse for over 40 years, I've always had a passion for helping people. When I discovered WINS and their mission to support women and immigrants in need, I knew I had to get involved. For the past nine years, I've been volunteering at the WINS Store in Richmond, and it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

One particular experience stands out to me. A lady came in, approached me and said, thank God, she had WINS. Many years ago, her husband left her and she had absolutely nothing. If it hadn’t been for WINS, she would not have been able to make it. That was an impactful moment for me, it reminded me of how valuable our work is and I’m glad I get to be a part of that.

I volunteer almost full-time at the store not because I have to, but because I'm passionate about making a positive impact. There are many of us who give our time and energy to WINS, and we do it because we believe in the cause. So if you're looking for a way to use your skills and make a difference in the lives of others, I encourage you to consider volunteering with WINS. It's a truly rewarding experience.
