Everyone deserves to feel welcome and safe in the spaces we live and work in, but unfortunately this isn’t the reality for many.
The LGBTQIA+ community continues to face discrimination, bigotry and hate, among other hardships and barriers, even in communities like ours. June is recognized as Pride Month to show support for this community and demonstrate that love is stronger than hate, no matter who or how you love.
Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we lift up the LGBTQIA+ community by making safe and inclusive spaces within our workplaces, community centres, public spaces and society in general. And this work goes beyond just taking action for a dedicated month, but is something that we should continually practice in our everyday lives. WINS is proud to be an open-doors organization, meaning we will help anyone who is in need regardless of their sex, gender, race, religion, education, career or any other demographic. We strive to reduce barriers through our operations and create accessible places within the Calgary community where all feel safe and supported.
